What is the Commission?

The Transparency Commission (TC) is an international and interdisciplinary research group made up of experts on abuse in institutional settings. It conducts independent assessments of how ecclesiastical institutions have managed cases involving the abuse of minors and vulnerable persons.

The Commission’s work is grounded in the transitional and restorative justice models and the principles of transparency, accountability, and evaluation. Its assessments are intended to help institutions dioceses strengthen their responses to abuse, become safer and more protective environments, and meet the standards necessary for properly handling abuse complaints.
